Saint-Rémy, like many towns in Provence, is both ancient and stunningly beautiful. On its outskirts lie the ruins of the Roman city of Glanum. Most famously, Saint-Rémy is the birthplace of Nostradamus and where Vincent van Gogh was a patient at the Saint-Paul Asylum. It was here that he created some of his most iconic works, including The Starry Night, which he painted from the window of his room. Today, you can still visit the monastery, surrounded by lavender, and see the very room where van Gogh stayed.
